It was recently pointed out to me that when I speak - especially in front of groups - I casually rub my hands together as I talk. It was brought to my attention because someone thought it was some sort of subliminal message. It's purely subconcious, I hardly realize that I do it myself. It's funny the things that people pick up on when we speak and the way they translate them for themselves. This perhaps is why politicians use these little details - which color to wear, how they use their hands when they speak. We actually do pay attention to the slight nuances and they matter. I have to admit it made me a bit more mindful of the other ways I present myself when I speak. To be attentive to our bodies may be just as important as being attentive to the words and ways we speak.
